    Brew a single shot of espresso using a cafetera or espresso machine.

    Stir sugar directly into the hot espresso while it's still steaming.

    Top with a small splash of warm milk — about a 4:1 ratio of coffee to milk.

    Sip slowly. The cortadito is meant to be small.

Stirring sugar into hot espresso creates a sweet, caramel-like crema on top.
